Our Mission
Yaseen Orphans Foundation Corporation’s mission is to support youth and those in need by helping with food, clothing, medical expenses, and educational programs. One of our main programs is distributing food, clothing, educational materials, and other necessities to schools and orphanages in the country of Senegal.
About Us
Founded by New York resident Yacine Diop, Yaseen Orphans Foundation is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in the Bronx, New York working to end poverty and hunger in our community. Our mission is to support the homeless, youth, first responders, and those in need by helping with food, clothing, medical expenses, and educational programs. Yaseen Orphans Foundation started in Yacine’s home kitchen in 2008 through her passion and love for giving back instilled by her family and her grandparents especially. Through her talent for cooking, and with the help of her dedicated family and volunteers, Yaseen Orphans Foundation currently serves the Bronx and Manhattan, New York, and Newark, New Jersey areas. We know that our strength lies not only in the words we stand by but most notably through the actions of our initiatives. At Yaseen Orphans Foundation, we hope you will join us in our goal of eradicating inequality, hunger, and homelessness in our communities.

Need for Our Programs
In New York City, 47,916 individuals were experiencing homelessness as of August 2021, with 18,236 being children. Across 2020, more than 122,000 individuals, adults, and children alike spent nights in the city’s shelter system. While New Jersey’s homelessness numbers pale in comparison to New York’s, 9,663 individuals were homeless within the state in 2020. While the poverty rate in New York City has fallen every year over the last five years, 16% of New Yorkers lived at or below the poverty line in 2019. The poverty rate is sure to have risen during the COVID-19 pandemic when many were laid off from their jobs or unable to work. There is a great need for our programs, and our values reflect that everyone deserves a safe and secure place to sleep and deserves healthy food in their stomachs. No one should go hungry, especially our children.
Our Solutions
At Yaseen Orphans Foundation, we believe no one should go hungry, and everyone deserves to be lifted up to reach their fullest potential. Our main program’s goal is to ensure everyone who needs a meal in New York City and Newark can eat. We serve a hot, home-cooked lunch three days a week at 6th Ave. and W. 35th St. on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 4 PM, and dinner on W. 125th St. in Harlem at 10 PM. We also serve lunch at 4 PM at Newark Penn Station in New Jersey. Each week we provide 175 meals to those who need it the most while providing referrals to local social service agencies, such as BronxWorks, focusing on shelter, additional food assistance, mental health care, drug addiction services, among other services. When we cannot serve meals on the streets, we drop meals off directly at our local New York City shelter partners.
Our services do not just stop at food. We also provide basic necessities to our unsheltered neighbors to ensure they keep their dignity even if they live on the streets. We provide hygiene kits that contain toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, and soap, as they can be hard to come by. As we know, New York and New Jersey get cold at night in the winter and contribute to 25% of reported deaths due to cold weather each year. We aim to reduce these senseless tragedies by providing sleeping bags, jackets, socks, and long johns to help keep them warm at night.
Yaseen Orphans Foundation Corporation will exclusively donate items to schools and orphanages. We select recipient organizations based on need and the number of children in the school or orphanage. We will follow up with each recipient to ensure the items are used by children in their program. All items granted must be utilized by the recipient organization for the specified need. We will require email and photo updates/reports. Item distributions will follow a timeline to ensure they are used for the appropriate purpose. We will have a final follow-up to ensure all items were used appropriately.
